Olympic gold medallist Simone Biles’ estranged birth mother publicly pleaded for a reunion. Shanon Biles, Simone’s biological mother, has issued a heartbreaking appeal, expressing her deep regret for abandoning her daughter years ago.
Shanon Biles remains hopeful that she will one day be able to have a relationship with her daughter, Simone Biles, who is a seven-time Olympic gold medallist, but she has left it up to the 27-year-old to initiate contact.
In 2017, Simone Biles tearfully opened up about being adopted on ‘DWTS.’
According to the gymnast, she grew up with a drug and alcohol abuse mother, who was in and out of jail, leading to hunger and fear and being placed in foster care at age 3.
The champion gymnast credited her adoptive parents with turning her entire life around.
“My parents saved me,” Biles said. “They’ve set huge examples of how to treat other people, and they’ve been there to support me since day one. There’s nothing I could say to them to thank them enough.”
Shanon Biles, who has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since then, has recently spoken out, expressing her deep regret for the past and her desire to reconnect with her famous daughter.
The 52-year-old told DailyMail.com that she hopes Simone will reach out so she can ask her daughter for forgiveness for the past she cannot change because of her drug addiction, which caused her to abandon her children.
“It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do. I wasn’t able to care for them. I was still using, and (my father) didn’t want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasn’t right,’ she explained.
She has also expressed sadness that she cannot participate in major life events, such as Simone’s wedding to NFL player Jonathan Owens last year.
“I would like to make amends with Simone personally – I’m just waiting for her and Adria. I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward.
“I’m waiting for the opportunity, but I’m waiting for her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient.”

Shanon revealed that she threw a party in the backyard of her row house in Columbus, Ohio, to celebrate Simone’s Olympic performance.
