Cardi B Shuts Down ‘Dumb’ Bleaching Rumor During Pregnancy

Cardi B has lashed out at skincare critics who have accused her of bleaching her skin while pregnant.

Cardi B has vehemently denied bleaching her skin while pregnant, blaming her pale complexion on anemia. The speculation began after Cardi shared a photo of former City Girls MC JT cradling her baby bump while sitting close to each other in a warm and intimate setting.

Unfortunately, the sharp contrast between MC JT’s dark complexion and Cardi B’s lighter tone prompted a user on X (formerly Twitter) to ask, “Has Cardi been bleaching her skin?”

True to form, Cardi B quickly responded to the accusation on social media with a fiery rebuttal, explaining that her pregnancy has caused her to become pale, with sunken eyes and prominent veins.

“Bleaching while pregnant? Why must y’all be so dumb?” Cardi B wrote in a series of tweets. “Actually, NO! I’m pregnant. I’m slightly anemic; this baby suckin’ all the energy off my body to the point I’m pale, eyes sunken, veins green ASF, can’t tan under the sun cause I get hot super fast and dizzy…PLEASE STOP THINKING WITH YOUR A$$HOLE!”

This isn’t the first time Cardi B has had to deal with rumors and speculation, and it likely won’t be the last. However, her candid response reminds us that she’s not taking any shenanigans as she navigates her pregnancy and divorce from her estranged husband, Offset, whom she has filed for divorce from for the second time.

Per the American Society of Haematology, anemia is a condition that occurs during pregnancy when the body does not produce enough red blood cells. Pregnant women are at a higher risk because their blood volume increases, and their bodies require more iron to supply oxygen to the fetus. Anaemia symptoms may include fatigue, weakness, and pale skin.

Earlier this month, Cardi B revealed that a “freak accident” left her briefly “paralyzed,” almost causing a pregnancy loss.
