Las Vegas Aces superstar and MVP frontrunner A’ja Wilson delivered a pointed message during an end-of-first-quarter interview in the team’s matchup against the Chicago Sky.

The defending WNBA champions have hit a rough patch since returning from the Olympic break, losing three of their last four games. Wilson, who continues to put up dominant performances, made it clear that everyone—from players to coaches to referees—needs to step up.

“Everyone has to do their job. From the players, to the refs, to the coaches … I don’t appreciate being looked at and stared at as if you’re trying to intimidate me,” Wilson said in a candid courtside interview.

Wilson’s frustration is understandable. Despite her consistently elite play, the Aces found themselves trailing a middle-of-the-pack Chicago team led by rookie phenom Angel Reese.

Wilson had already secured another double-double by halftime, showcasing the type of all-around game that has her averaging 26.8 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 2.4 assists, and 2.0 steals per game this season.

While Wilson continues to deliver MVP-caliber performances, the Aces appear to be facing internal struggles. The team’s recent dip in form has raised concerns ahead of the postseason, which is just around the corner.

If the defending champions hope to go back-to-back, they’ll need to resolve their issues quickly and get back to playing cohesive basketball.

With the playoffs looming, Wilson’s leadership and ability to hold everyone accountable—teammates and officials included—could be crucial in turning things around for Las Vegas.
