Man killed in solo vehicle crash
A Cameron Park man died during a car crash on July 18 and California Highway Patrol documents indicate alcohol use may have been a factor. The 38-year-old driver, whose name has not been released, was driving a Ford truck eastbound along Country Club Drive close to De Sabla Road in Cameron Park when, CHP records indicate, he made an "unsafe turning movement" that caused the Ford to leave the roadway and collide with a tree, overturning the vehicle. The driver was fatally injured, while the passenger, a 37-year-old Reno resident, was unharmed.
Alcohol, speed suspected in crash that killed driver in El Dorado County, CHP says
EL DORADO COUNTY – A driver is dead and alcohol and speed are suspected to be a factor in a crash near Placerville on Thursday night, the California Highway Patrol said.The crash happened just after 9 p.m. in the area of Country Club Drive near Los Santos Drive.The CHP said a 2017 Ford truck went off the roadway and crashed into trees located in the front yard of a home.The driver, a man in his 30s, was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the CHP said.The passenger, also a man in his 30s, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.The driver's identification has not been released.
Folsom man arrested for attempted murder after allegedly intentionally strikes motorcyclist
FOLSOM, California — A 23-year-old Folsom man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly chasing and intentionally striking a motorcyclist with his SUV, police said. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. at the intersection of East Bidwell Street and Iron Point Road, according to a press release from the Folsom Police Department. Multiple callers alerted authorities to the crash, prompting officers and emergency personnel to rush to the scene.

Newcastle gun store burglarized; 45-50 handguns stolen, sheriff says
NEWCASTLE – Dozens of handguns have been stolen from a Placer County business after a brazen break-in early Monday morning, authorities say. The Placer County Sheriff's Office says they believe the burglary started just before 1:30 a.m. when a suspect started removing wood siding from Foothill Firearms along Taylor Road in Newcastle. Deputies believe the suspect was able to get into the building sometime after 3 a.m. Between 45-50 handguns were then stolen, the sheriff's office says; no ammunition was taken. Investigators say one suspect was seen on security camera, but they're looking into the possibility that there are more suspects linked to the burglary. No description has been given of the suspect caught on camera. An active investigation into the burglary was still ongoing through the morning on Monday.
