Four Richmond schools set to start class Monday
For the second year in a row, some Richmond public schools are beginning classes early. The Monday start date at four local schools is part of RPS200, an expanded pilot program aimed at combating pandemic-era learning loss. Fairfield Court and Cardinal elementary schools were the program’s first participating schools in 2023; they’re joined this year by Oak Grove-Bellemeade and Woodville.

Swimming advisory extended for Lake Anna due to harmful algae bloom
RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Department of Health is extending a swimming advisory for the North Anna Branch of Lake Anna and adding a swimming advisory for the Upper and Middle sections of the Pamunkey Branch of Lake Anna. These sections of the lake are experiencing a harmful algae bloom (HAB). The public is advised to avoid contact with this specific area of the lake until algae concentrations return to acceptable levels.
