Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are allegedly not on good terms. Divorce rumors started several months into 2024. Lopez and Affleck always had their differences regarding media attention, but insiders alleged that they couldn’t get past their marital struggles this time.

An insider told In Touch Weekly in August 2024 that Lopez feels confused by Affleck’s treatment of their marriage when it comes to the public. Affleck occasionally wears his wedding ring but leaves it off while on outings. Additionally, he bought a new house without Lopez when she was busy celebrating her birthday on the opposite coast.

“The fact that he bought a new home while she was celebrating her birthday in the Hamptons was really humiliating for her,” the source shared. “Plus, one day he has his ring on, and the next day it’s off — it’s like he’s gaslighting her.”

The insider added that Affleck claiming he’s “protecting” Lopez while simultaneously ignoring her birthday and their anniversary was “shocking” to Lopez. “People in their circle are wondering how it’s gotten to this point and become so toxic,” the source added.

Lopez allegedly “thought she’d finally found her happily ever after,” but Affleck fooled her.

“She’s putting up a brave front in public, but she’s seething on the inside,” the insider said.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck spent their 2024 summers apart. While Affleck stayed in LA near his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their three kids, Lopez spent the warm months in the Hamptons in New York. However, Lopez returned to LA in August 2024. She was spotted at Affleck’s rental home in Brentwood, where she spent several hours. She also reportedly took Affleck’s son, Samuel, 12, shopping.

A source said Lopez is prioritizing spending “quality time” with Affleck’s three kids and her twins.

“Just because she’s not with Ben doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about his kids,” a source told People. “She always cared about them. She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year. Now, when she’s back in LA, she wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes, and Violet is off to college.”

It also looks like Affleck and Lopez are back on speaking terms. The couple allegedly wouldn’t talk to each other over the phone or in person, making it difficult to finalize their divorce.

Jennifer Lopez is allegedly distraught and shocked by her inevitable divorce from Ben Affleck. Affleck doesn’t feel good about the separation, either. In June 2024, a source told OK! Magazine that Affleck was “upset and depressed” over his failed marriage.

“Jennifer was Ben’s dream woman,” the insider said. “It was drama all the time. He’s feeling down about it and is upset and depressed it didn’t work out, even though he knows ending it is the right thing to do.”

The insider added that Lopez is “keeping her head up” as “she doesn’t want to be seen as the villain.”
