In the picture series, the kids and Simpson strike goofy poses and have fun while returning to school. Johnson wasn’t in a single picture, though, and fans were quick to notice that Jessica Simpson didn’t seem to be wearing her wedding ring either.

In one photo, she looks like she has been crying; she wrote in the caption, “To thine own self be true.” In another update, she quoted Mother Teresa: “Peace begins with a smile.”

While Johnson is “not an Instagram guy” according to Simpson, it never stopped him from being featured on her feed before. Simpson was previously married to Nick Lachey .
