SUNY Oneonta to help develop fire-safe battery technology
ALBANY, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday, July 24 that a local college will be helping develop new innovations in battery technology. SUNY Oneonta will be one of two places in New York State to receive funding from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) for a long-duration energy storage project using fire-safe battery technology. According to the governor’s office, the technology will be able to be used in urban and rural places and demonstrate a stable energy supply during periods of high demand and extreme weather conditions.

A 2-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot and injured at a home in Connecticut.It happened on Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. on Wheeler Road in Monroe.It's believed the same round struck the boy in his hand and foot.Police say that the boy's panicked mother discovered the boy shot and tried to rush him to a hospital on Route 110 before calling 911.Emergency crews reached the vehicle about a quarter mile from the shooting scene.He was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital and was later transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital for surgery and is expected to survive.Police are investigating the circumstances...
