Barton waives preliminary hearing, is bound over for trial
Facing 20 felonies related to allegations of theft from the Wilton Village Office, former clerk/treasurer Leigha Barton waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday. At a preliminary hearing, the prosecution shows evidence that the defendant may have committed a crime. Though the preliminary hearing was waived, Monroe County Circuit Judge Todd Ziegler determined there was probable cause and bound over Barton for trial. Ziegler entered a non-guilty plea on Barton’s behalf.

Avelo Airlines Will Not Originiate Flights From Dubuque in 4th Quarter of 2024
Avelo Airlines informed the Dubuque Regional Airport on Monday that Dubuque will not be included in Avelo’s flight schedule for the fourth quarter of 2024. Avelo had planned to resume direct flights from Dubuque to Orlando in November but said aircraft availability and increasing costs at Orlando International Airport factored into the decision. East Dubuque May Allow Golf Carts and UTVs on City Streets
East Dubuque would allow residents to utilize golf carts and utility vehicles within city limits under a newly proposed ordinance. The City Council took no action on the proposed ordinance Monday night, but City Manager Bob Seitz says it plans to potentially approve it at an upcoming meeting. After the City Council meeting, Seitz said city officials have received requests from businesses and individuals to change the city’s current ordinance, which prohibits the operation of golf carts, all-terrain vehicles and utility vehicles on East Dubuque city streets.
