On July 1, 2024, Pasadena’s minimum wage is set to increase from $16.93 per hour to $17.50 per hour for all businesses, regardless of size. On March 14, 2016, the Pasadena City Council adopted its own minimum wage ordinance. Pasadena’s minimum wage rules were approved prior to the State of California’s action, and the state’s minimum wage does not preempt Pasadena’s minimum wage ordinance.

Santa Monica’s homeless count down by 6% from 2023, which equates to 52 people
The 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count results were announced on Friday morning and while the Westside of Los Angeles County, which includes Santa Monica, saw a nearly 20% decrease in the total population of people experiencing homelessness, the count for Santa Monica showed a 6% decrease from the 826 reported in 2023 by the Los Angeles County Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) to 774 people.
