Duke Energy, county officials to test sirens around Harris Nuclear Plant next week
Duke Energy and county officials will be testing the sirens at a New Hill nuclear plant next week. The 85 outdoor warning sirens around Harris Nuclear Plant will be tested for five to 30 seconds between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on July 10. To ensure they are functioning properly, it may be necessary to test some sirens more than once.
TriRiver Water becomes Pittsboro water provider
SANFORD — TriRiver Water is the new regional water and wastewater services provider for customers in Sanford and Pittsboro starting on July 1. The new entity results from a merger between the City of Sanford and Town of Pittsboro water and wastewater services. Its name references the three rivers that converge in the Cape Fear River Basin, the region's raw water source.
