WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia (USAO-DC) said it sentenced a Silver Spring man on Friday to 13 years in prison for the 2021 killing of 18-year-old Noel Prince Nicol of Silver Spring.

According to USAO-DC, 23-year-old Jordan Jones of Silver Spring pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in December 2023 for the fatal shooting of Nicol on Oct. 11, 2021, in Southeast.

Superior Court Judge Michael O’Keefe sentenced Jones to 13 years in prison and five years of supervised release, according to a press release from the office.

According to court documents, Jones agreed to meet Nicol in Southeast the day after he arranged to purchase a 9mm handgun, the same caliber as the murder weapon.

Police said they did not locate Nicol until three days after his death when they were investigating an anonymous tip and discovered Nicols’s body in the driver’s seat of a car parked on Savannah Place SE.

Police said detectives obtained surveillance footage from the vicinity of the car and determined Jones as the suspect.

Jones admitted to police in his post-arrest interview that he was in the car at the time of the shooting and that he and Nicol struggled over the gun, according to investigators.
