A calming space during a time of crisis: Support 7 launches fundraising drive for new vehicle
When victims and first responders in South Snohomish County need a calming space to step away from the intensity of an emergency situation, Support 7 volunteers and their emergency response vehicle are there to provide one. The Support 7 team uses a motor home, outfitted to provide a space for victims and fire responders to be shielded from the elements, step away from the media, have private conversations with police, get religious support from chaplains, or have a hot or cold drink, among other services.
Council to vote July 22 on judicial personnel request
At its business meeting July 22, the Lynnwood City Council is scheduled to vote on a request from Municipal Court Judge Valerie Bouffiou to create a new position to handle photo-enforced citations. Bouffiou requested the position at last week’s council work session, saying that rising levels of tickets and a growing backlog necessitated the position.
Final 2024 Meet Me at the Park event at South Lynnwood Park July 16
The final of three Meet Me at the Park events sponsored by the City of Lynnwood is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 at South Lynnwood Park, 20915 61st Ave. W. Local nonprofit agencies will visit Lynnwood parks across the city this summer to provide information about their no-cost or low-cost services, resources and programs. The park visits will have free, fun activities for kids. Due to parking constraints, event organizers encourage attendees to walk or bike.

LYNNWOOD—Cedar Way Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) raised over $1,400 from its Red Robin of Lynnwood fundraiser on Friday, July 12, to support the Jada Woods-Johnson Family who lost their daughter to a fatal shooting in the Alderwood Mall food court. A second fundraiser is in the works for August 10 at Buffalo Wild Wings, Everett Mall location.

One person killed in head-on crash on Blewett Pass
BLEWETT PASS - One person is dead after Saturday's three-vehicle crash on Blewett Pass. According to a press memo, Saul Avila Valadez of Guanajuato, Mexico was going north on US 97 in a Nissan Altima at around 3:30 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and collided with two-oncoming full-sized Ford pick up trucks. Saul's passenger, 21-year-old Elmer Morales, died at the scene. Morales was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. No one else was hurt in the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Bonum Therapeutics Doubles Footprint in Seattle with New 31,000 SQFT Office
Seattle-based Bonum Therapeutics, a rising star in the biotechnology sector, is set to double its current footprint in August as it plans to relocate to a larger office space in Seattle’s Eastlake neighborhood. The company, which specializes in the development of targeted protein drugs for cancer treatment, is moving to a 31,000 square foot facility at 1150 Eastlake Ave. E., a few blocks away from its previous location, according to a report from the Puget Sound Business Journal. The expansion comes as Bonum plans to significantly increase its 31-person team over the next few years.
