Illini golfers team up for John Deere Classic practice round

SILVIS, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois’s own PGA Tour event was all orange and blue at Tuesday’s practice round.

Former Illinois standout Adrien Dumont de Chassart paired up with rising senior and Big Ten Golfer of the Year Jackson Buchanan for a practice round on the back nine at TPC Deere Run.

“Illinois golf is brotherhood so when you see guys out here it’s just a bond that you can’t really explain so I love that guy,” said Buchanan. “It’s great to be out here. I hit some bad shots but it’s just a practice round and I just enjoyed it, all of it.”

Buchanan is playing at the John Deere Classic on a sponsor exemption, while Dumont de Chassart is playing his first year on the PGA Tour. He will tee off along with former Illini Nick Hardy on Thursday morning, while Buchanan will start in the afternoon.
