    Simmesport Police Department officer arrested for aggravated burglary

    SIMMESPORT, La. ( WNTZ ) – On July 11, 2024, the Simmesport Police Department (SPD) requested the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) to investigate a burglary at their department headquarters. SPD confirmed that the department was missing three (3) firearms, a ballistic vest, and a mobile radio.

    As a result of the investigation and information obtained, it was revealed that SPD Officer Kentravious Prater stole the above listed items.

    On July 11, 2024, LSP AFO obtained a warrant for Prater’s arrest. LSP AFO arrested Prater for aggravated burglary, possession of stolen firearms, possession of stolen things, criminal damage to property, and malfeasance in office. Prater was then booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Jail.

    The Louisiana State Police will serve as the lead investigative agency. The investigation remains active and ongoing. There is no further information available at this time .
