SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Football legends will be helping raise funds for public education during the Sioux City Public Schools Foundation’s Golf Fore Education Classic.
This year’s event will feature a lineup of football legends, donating their time to support the Foundation’s mission to advance education for students in the Sioux City Community School District, according to a press release from Sioux City Public Schools Foundation.
The event will be held on Monday, July 29 at the Sioux City Country Club and begin with a gunshot start at noon.
Preregistration is required for the golf event. Limited foursome spots are still available. The football greats will golf alongside event participants.
Comedian Carlos Mencia coming to Sioux City Those to take part in the Golf Fore Education Class are as follows:
- Chuck Long – 1981-1984 Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback, NFL player for the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, and college football and XFL coach
- Marcus Dupree – 1982-1983 Oklahoma Sooners running back and NFL player for the Los Angeles Rams
- Johnny Rodgers – Nebraska’s first Heisman winner in 1972 who led the Huskers to the first two national titles in school history (1970 and 1971)
- Mike Rozier – 1983 Heisman Trophy Winner, rushing for over 2,000 yards on one of the most prolific offenses of all time
- Eric Crouch – 2001 Heisman Trophy Winner, breaking multiple school records during his time with the Nebraska Cornhuskers
- Tony Davis – 1972-1975 Nebraska Cornhuskers fullback and NFL player for Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Ricky Simmons – Nebraska Cornhuskers wide receiver from 1979-1983
- Jay Foreman – Nebraska Cornhuskers linebacker and NFL player for the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, and New York Giants
- Andre Allen – University of Northern Iowa Panthers defensive end and Canadian Football League player
