SIOUX CITY, Iowa ( KCAU ) — With Siouxland getting hit with another heatwave, one local organization is helping Siouxlanders keep cool.

The Community Action Agency is providing people with free air conditioning units. Applicants are required to meet income guidelines as well as other criteria to receive their new A/C unit.

“So, we do give air conditioners out, and that as people have a medical need for that. It’s not necessarily central air; it is like a one-room air conditioning unit for people; that’s enough to help it cool off. It’s going to be terrible this weekend,” Jean Logan with the Community Action Agency of Siouxland said.

Because of the federal funding limit, the agency has not been able to give out as many A/C units and wants to urge residents to donate what they can to help the public.
