SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Triumphs and struggles facing the early childhood care and education landscape in the community brought several Siouxland childcare providers together Tuesday night.

Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) hosted its first-ever Child Care Gallery Walk. In-home care providers, preschool and head start teachers, and childcare center employees were all invited to participate in an interactive conversation about capacity building, provider resources, family needs, and tri-state challenges.

Almost forty providers were on hand to give their input, looking to improve childcare in the tri-state area.

“It is because we have a wonderful area here in Siouxland,” Joann Giefelman with Growing Community Connections said. “We have so much to offer. There are people working all the time, so we just want to enhance it and bring more people. Economic development is the key to all of this and just bringing people to our community.”

Growing Community Connections partnered with WITCC for Tuesday night’s event. Everyone who attended took home a door prize.

Growing Community Connections will be holding another gallery walk next Thursday in the Rocklin Conference Center at WITCC from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
