The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and Sioux Falls Police Department are asking for the public’s help to find a woman they identified as a suspect in a car chase that ended in a crash Wednesday morning.

Karissa Becker, 22, from Sioux Falls is being sought in connection with the chase, Capt. Josh Phillips of the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office said during a police briefing Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, two warrant task officers from the sheriff’s office were near the 400 block of South Prairie Avenue when they heard what they thought was a gunshot and saw what appeared to be a gun sticking out of a car window. They followed a 2008 Buick Lucerne, resulting in police pursuing the vehicle around 41st Street and Marion Road, Phillips said.

The pursuit ended at 10:26 a.m. when the vehicle ran a stop sign at 22nd Street and Willow Avenue and crashed into a Chevy pickup, authorities said. The pickup driver received minor injuries.

According to Phillips, two people in the Lucerne fled, while two others stayed in the vehicle and were arrested.

Police believe Becker was one of those who fled from the vehicle, said Phillips.

Corbat Heron, 19, of Sioux Falls, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of a stolen vehicle and reckless discharge of a firearm. Shalena Alexander, 19, of Sioux Falls, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

A 17-year-old boy from Sioux Falls was charged with simple assault, possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing from the police.
