Officials with the Sioux Falls Police Department arrested a man for robbing a convenience store Monday night, department spokesman Sam Clemens said during a press briefing Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 8:15 p.m. at the Casey’s on North Kiwanis Avenue and West Fifth Street.

Clemens said a 19-year-old man from Sioux Falls, who was trespassed from the Casey’s, entered the store. The clerk recognized him and told him he needed to leave. The man pushed the clerk, took cigarettes and left.

Police found him in the area and arrested him for robbery and intentional damage to property.

There were no weapons involved and no injuries were incurred.

The man arrested is not named, because this is not a case the Argus Leader would follow through to trial at this time, but the incident itself is still important to understanding what kinds of crime happen within the Sioux Falls area.
