Charleston City Council approves expansion of urban hunting to include bears, coyotes
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Charleston City Council has voted to expand options for urban hunting to include bears and coyotes. The ordinance allows for bears to be hunted with crossbows while coyotes may be hunted with .22 caliber rifles. Council members also expanded times for hunting coyotes to include nighttime hours on private property.

On Monday, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) spent the day in Charleston, W.Va., to celebrate the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act becoming law. The law took effect on July 2, after Senators Capito and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) reintroduced the legislation in March 2023.
