Sen. Lisa Murkowski is asking lawmakers to pass legislation to help tribal members who are bitten by their stray village dogs. She said, “an average of 4,800 tribal members are hospitalized or receive outpatient care from dog bites each year. Some studies indicate that tribal areas experience a death rate from dog attacks that is 35 times higher than the rest of the nation, with most of these cases are in Alaska.”

Vehicle Accidents On Seward And Kenai Spur Hwys Claim 2 Lives
Two people are dead after a pair of major motor vehicle accidents occurred within minutes of one another on Saturday morning on the Seward and Kenai Spur Highways. UAF Hockey add seven heading to the end of the off season
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -The Nanooks Hockey Team signed seven new student-athletes from some of the top junior leagues across North America. First up is Caelum Dick, a right shot 5-10 defenseman who played for the United State Hockey League’s (USHL) Dubuque Fighting Saints from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Dick played in 116 regular season games for the Fighting Saints and tallied six goals and 21 assists for 27 points and a playoff goal.

The 32-year-old pro runner from Ketchikan closed fast at Sound Running’s 2024 Sunset Tour to blow away the field, clock a season’s-best 8 minutes, 19.11 seconds and win by 2.57 seconds.
