After careful consideration, the members of Brooklet United Methodist Church have decided to withdraw from the United Methodist Church denomination. This decision follows deliberations centered around recent outcomes from the UMC's General Conference held in April in Charlotte, NC. Brooklet UMC has been affiliated with the Methodist denomination since 1904 when the first church was founded in Brooklet. This departure marks a significant and difficult choice for the congregation. This departure is set to be approved by the United Methodist South Georgia Conference at a special Annual Conference on August 17th and becomes effective September 30, 2024.
