The Noble Park Summer Music Series hosts free live music
PADUCAH — There are still a handful shows left in the Noble Park Summer Music Series in the Bob Noble Park, including a set on Friday, July 19. The River Dust Duo will be playing at 5:30 p.m. and Jazz Patrol at 6:30 p.m. The River Dust Duo is two vocalists, a man and woman, who play guitar and upright bass together, while Jazz Patrol is an 18-member ensemble comprised of local musicians from Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois.
Illinois sound artist tries to tune into sound of Paducah during residency program
What does a city sound like? That’s the question that musician, composer and educator Nick Ginsburg tries to answer with his work. The southern Illinois native is finishing a stint as the Paducah Arts Alliance’s artist-in-residence during which he’s trying to create a soundscape to represent the far western Kentucky city that mixes musical composition with field recordings of the local environment. Ginsburg spoke with WKMS Morning Edition host Daniel Hurt about his process.
Walker to be nominated for KBC president
Brad Walker, pastor of Briensburg Baptist Church in Benton will be nominated for president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention at the Nov. 12 Annual Meeting in Paducah. Charles Frazier, former pastor of Zion’s Cause Baptist Church in Benton and now associational mission strategist for the Northern Kentucky Baptist Association, will nominate Walker.
McCracken County Public Library to host resource fair July 16
PADUCAH — The McCracken County Public Library has announced that it will be hosting a resource fair on July 16 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. According to the library, community partners will be on site to offer help and talk about the services they offer, including resources for housing, food, employment and wellbeing in our community.
Columbia Art House board secures state tax credit for restorations
PADUCAH — The Columbia Art House board secured $314,193 in funding through The Kentucky Historic Tax Credit. The credit will support phase one of the project: exterior rehabilitation.
