Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Brian Soltan, 62, of West Islip, owner of several East Islip auto body businesses, and Gerald McCrystal, 51, of Dix Hills, owner of Farmingdale-based furniture stores, were each sentenced after pleading guilty to grand larceny on separate cases for stealing sales tax money from New York State.

A gruesome incident occurred this past Saturday night, a Long Island man suffered severe injuries due to a fireworks explosion. According to police in Suffolk County, the 66-year-old Brentwood resident was in his yard on Eastern Avenue around 9 p.m. when the explosion occurred. The blast was powerful enough to sever his left hand and take off three fingers from his right hand. He was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition.

The Public Information Office reports the details of a Water Emergency that occurred on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 5:58 pm in Cold Spring Harbor.
