RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The 2024 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally hasn’t officially started yet, but multiple motorcycle accidents have resulted in fatalities in KOTA Territory this week. South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Taran Hunt often rides a motorcycle while on duty, and he gave some safety tips for those cruising western South Dakota’s highways during this period of increased traffic.

Lawmakers want to know the 'good, bad and ugly' about alleged $1.8 million theft
(The Center Square) - Members of South Dakota's Government Operations and Audit Committee grilled Auditor General Russell Olson over why a $1.8 million alleged theft by a state employee wasn't discovered but received few answers. Lonna Carroll, 68, of Algona an employee for Child Protection Services in Hughes County. She was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of grand theft earlier this month, according to Attorney General Marty Jackley. ...

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It was a stormy morning in northeastern KELOLAND. Just before 1:00 PM a report came in of a wind gust of 92 MPH in Hillhead in Marshall county. There is broken cloud cover around the area. There are strong winds in western South Dakota, NOT under thunderstorms. Temperatures have been near and above normal, highs in the 80s and low 90s.
