    Former Kent County resident appointed judge in California

    SMYRNA — Former Kent County resident Ashley M. Price has been appointed a judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court by California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

    Ms. Price had served as a commissioner at the court since 2021. She also worked as a deputy public defender for the county from 2005-19 and was a senior law clerk there prior.

    Additionally, Ms. Price served as a law clerk for the federal public defender for the Central District of California in 2005.

    Following graduation cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, with degrees in psychology and sociology, she earned a law degree from Loyola Law School, Compton, California.

    The judge resided in Smyrna and Dover as a child and attended school at West Dover Elementary School and Caravel Academy.

    Ms. Price is the daughter of Karen Parsell Price of Scottsdale, Arizona, and George Price of Las Vegas.

    Her grandparents were the late Ted and Faye Parsell and Elizabeth and Irving Price, all of Smyrna.
