Firearms, drugs seized during recent initiative in Wicomico Co.
SALISBURY, Md. – A firearms suppression initiative in Wicomico County resulted in the recovery of multiple weapons, controlled dangerous substances, and five arrests. During the month of June, the Salisbury Police Department and Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office collaborated in an effort to combat illegal firearm possession and reduce gun violence in the community. Throughout the initiative, law enforcement conducted a total of 48 traffic stops and 18 field interviews, which led to five arrests and the recovery of five illegal firearms, two of which were reported stolen.
Overnight Shooting Leaves Two Injured in Princess Anne
PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The Princess Anne Police Department is seeking the public’s help with an investigation into two shootings early Tuesday. Police say the first shooting occurred just before 2:40 a.m. on July 2nd on Pine Knoll Drive. Investigators were told multiple shots had been fired and found a nearby home and vehicle had been damaged by gunfire. No victims were found at the time.
Homicide Investigators Looking Into Triple Murder’s Death In Prison
Maryland State Police are conducting an investigation into the death of Ralph Ruark, an 80-year-old inmate at the Western Correctional Institution in Allegany County. Ruark was serving a sentence in the maximum security prison for a triple homicide committed in Salisbury, Maryland in 1972. On October 14, 1972, Ruark fatally shot his estranged wife, Glenda Smack Ruark, 25, at a bookstore in the Salisbury Mall. News reports at the time said that the incident took place in front of several customers and that Ruark was apprehended shortly after the shooting.
