Lauralee Bell and Michael Damian, who play Christine and Danny on The Young and the Restless, are bringing their characters to The Bold and the Beautiful for two episodes. Soap Hub chatted with the two daytime veterans and learned why the visit tugged on some emotional heartstrings.

    Home Again, Naturally

Danny and Christine, as previously reported, are headed to Los Angeles. After he performs a rock concert in Los Angeles, the two are invited to the Forrester mansion for what they believe is a party to celebrate the relaunch of Brooke’s Bedroom. As always with soaps, viewers can expect some surprises!

While Bell appeared as Christine on the show about 17 years ago to help Ridge beat a murder charge, this is Damian’s first visit to the half-hour soap. “We’re doing something new,” Damian says of Danny and Christine coming onto B&B.

“Who knew that you could do newness after so many years?” Bell rhetorically asked. Damian credits Brad Bell, executive producer/head writer, B&B, for coming up with the perfect scenario to bring Danny and Christine to Los Angeles — and to the Forrester home.

As some viewers may know, the Forrester mansion is somewhat patterned after the estate where Bell first lived in when she and her family moved to Los Angeles back in 1986. That’s when she began appearing more regularly as Christine (AKA Cricket) on Y&R, and B&B started to come together.

“Our first moment on set was standing behind the [front] door [of the Forrester mansion,” Bell recalls, “I said, ‘Yeah, these are [similar to] my parents’ doors.”

Damian recalled that being in the Forrester mansion felt a little bit like being back at the Bells’ former home. As Bell’s father, the late William J. Bell, created B&B, she says it felt very unique to her for Chris to say the words “Forrester Creations” as the fashion house is integral to the show’s foundation.

“I don’t know,” Bell wistfully says. “It was just very special. I remember my dad coming up with the name ‘Forrester.’ It was fun to say, and also, just, beautiful.” (No pun intended!)

Longtime Y&R fans won’t want to miss these episodes, which start Tuesday, August 13. In one of the shows, Damian, as Danny, will sing his 1989 Billboard chart-topping tune “Rock On.”

That won’t be the only familiar tune heard during the duo’s visit. Listen carefully and you just might hear a remix of Damian’s song “Was It Nothing At All,” also from 1989. That hit was the singer’s second highest rated song, but it actually remained on the charts the longest. “The [disc jockey] is playing [it] while the party is happening,” Damian previews.
