GRANT COUNTY, Wash. -- A highway is closed due to a wildfire burning south of Soap Lake on Monday evening, according to Grant County Sheriff's Office.

SR-17 is closed between SR-282 and SR-28, south of Soap Lake, about two hours west of Spokane.

As of 6:45 p.m., no evacuations have been ordered and the fire is contained.

According to GCSO, the fire began at the Ephrata Gun Range and is burning on both sides of SR-17 in a large, mostly unpopulated area.
