    Suspect arrested in Somersworth, Berwick road rage incident

    SOMERSWORTH — Police have made an arrest in connection with an alleged road rage incident in Somersworth and Berwick, Maine.

    Police charged Dillon S. O’Shea, 34, of Berwick, with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony.

    On July 7, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Somersworth Police responded to the area of Market Street near the Maine state line for a report of a road rage incident where shots were fired. A description given of the suspect and their vehicle resulted in a be-on-the-lookout alert being broadcast to surrounding agencies, including in Maine.

    "The initial incident actually began in Maine," said Somersworth police Capt. Matthew Duval, at the time of the incident. "Then the parties came over the bridge into Somersworth. The altercation was between two drivers, and it was alleged that shots were fired. No one was injured, and at this point we do not believe the firearm was pointed at any person."

    At approximately 8:40 p.m., officers from the Berwick Police Department stopped the suspect vehicle on Rochester Street in the Maine town. The operator, who was the identified as a person of interest, was detained and later released. His car was impounded pending a search warrant, which was obtained by Maine police and executed. A firearm and further evidence to indicate rounds were fired from the vehicle were recovered, according to police.

    An arrest warrant was obtained by Somersworth police and the suspect turned himself in to face the charges.

    O'Shea was released on personal recognizance bail and scheduled to appear in Dover District Court for an arraignment on Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m.Somersworth police thanked Berwick police for their assistance.

    It was not immediately known if O'Shea has an attorney.
