    Ubuntu Cultural Pavilion Hosts Walking Tour of Pre-Civil War African-American Community in Somerville

    SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Ubuntu Cultural Pavilion will host the "Roots and Wings Walking Tour" and explore Somerville’s rich history of the pre-Civil War African American community through the early 1900s on Saturday, Aug. 3.

    The tour begins at the Somerville Middle School, 51 W. Cliff St. at the main entrance beginning at 11 a.m.

    The tour is priced at $8.50 per person for ages 13 and up, and $5 for children ages 5 to 12, which includes water and a snack.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

    The 1.5-mile walking tour on the north side of Somerville is designed for families, friends, and groups. This leisurely-paced tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, is not strenuous, and is suitable for almost everyone.
