Detectives from the county’s Cold Case Unit are seeking public assistance in finding 18-year-old Juan Machado, who has been missing since June 14. According to an MCPD press release, Machado was last seen Wednesday afternoon in the 1700 block of Mount Pisgah Lane. Machado is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes.

Gene Lynch Urban Park in downtown Silver Spring will feature a new art installation, and Montgomery Parks invites the public to vote. The newly constructed urban park opened to the public in June, and in January, a Call for Artists invited artists to submit their qualifications and examples of their work. Four artists were selected to develop site-specific public art concepts that would complement the park’s green space, trees, and pergola structure.

Metro to Increase Red Line Service Starting Monday
On Monday, Metro will launch its eleventh service increase since last summer with more frequent Red Line service. Metro will boost peak service on the Red Line to meet demand and ridership growth as more customers return to work and other activities during morning and evening commute times. Trains will run more frequently between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Construction is underway at the Solaire Social food hall and Prime Coffee & Bakery. Montgomery County Police say they have arrested and charged 22-year-old Vincent Adeniyi Oyegbami for an armed carjacking in downtown Silver Spring last month. Denizens Brewing Co. to Close Silver Spring Location
Denizens Brewing Co. will close its downtown Silver Spring location on Monday, October 23, co-founder Julie Verratti announced on social media on Tuesday. DCBeer.com says the decision to close the Silver Spring taproom, which opened in 2014, is mostly because the original ten-year lease ends in October and the landlord wants to renew for another ten-year term. Denizens tried to negotiate a shorter renewal term, but the landlord would not budge.

Two downtown Silver Spring restaurants — Dog Haus Biergarten and All Set Restaurant & Bar — are raising funds for two nonprofits this month. Dog Haus Biergarten corporate chef Adam Gertler has created Hawaiian-inspired items to raise money for the Maui Strong Fund, established by the Hawaii Community Foundation in response to the Maui wildfires. Pizza Hut Now Open in Four Corners
Pizza Hut is now open at 10100 Colesville Rd. in Four Corners, according to the restaurant’s website and mobile ordering app. It was reported earlier this month that Pizza Hut would take over half of the former Game Stop location across from the newly-opened Bento Express, with the restaurant close to opening. Fall Cleaning of County Garages to Begin September 11
The county’s Department of Transportation will begin its fall garage washdown campaign on Monday, September 11, officials announced. During this semi-annual interior garage washdown, 21 county-owned parking garages in Silver Spring, Bethesda, and Wheaton are cleaned and degreased. As part of MCDOT’s efforts to keep garages clean, the department performs spring and fall washdowns to prevent grease, oil, and debris from entering local waterways.
