La Casita Pupuseria & Market will close its Germantown location at the end of July, according to a report from The MoCo Show. Awdamet Market and Adulis Coffee & Roastery are now open in downtown Silver Spring. In April, we reported that Awdamet Market would be opening at 8202 Georgia Ave., adjacent to Patient First and Third Hill Brewing. Police: 17-Year-Old Killed in White Oak Shooting
Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday evening in White Oak. The Montgomery County Police Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a call at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday regarding a vehicle collision in the parking lot of The Birches apartment complex in the 1500 block of Heather Hollow Circle. After arriving at the scene, officers from the 3rd District located 17-year-old Tyrone Howard Brown inside a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. Before coming to a stop, the victim crashed the car into several parked vehicles in the apartment complex’s parking lot, according to an MCPD news release.

Police Investigating Homicide at Silver Spring Ave. Garage; Victim Identified
Montgomery County Police say they are investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning at a parking garage in downtown Silver Spring. Police officers from the Third District responded at approximately 2:40 a.m. Saturday, July 8, to the Montgomery County Public Parking Garage 3 in the 900 block of Silver Spring Ave. for a report of a shooting. Takoma Park has set its annual rent increase to 3.7 percent through June 2024, officials announced this week. For the period of July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, the Rent Stabilization Allowance will be 3.7%. In accordance with Takoma Park’s Rent Stabilization Law, landlords cannot increase the rent on occupied units higher than the Rent Stabilization Allowance.
