Notre Dame Football team has suffered a huge blow with a key player out for the upcoming season. The Fighting Irish confirmed on Monday that left tackle Charles Jagusah has torn the pectoral muscle in his right shoulder.

The sportsman, who is 6′ 7″ and weighs 330 pounds, sustained the injury during preseason camp and will miss the entire 2024 season a result. Jagusah started at left tackle for the Irish in the Sun Bowl at the end of last year.

Jagusah, who was set to replace Joe Alt in the starting line up, was injured on Saturday and will undergo surgery. The rising sophomore became the first true freshman to start on the Notre Dame offensive line since Alt in 2021.

Notre Dame lost both its starting tackles from last year's team to the NFL draft. The school also announced that defensive back Marty Auer tore his left ACL and is out for the season.

Left tackle is a critical position because it protects the blind side for right handed quarterbacks, w hich includes Notre Dame’s likely starting quarterback Riley Leonard .

The status of the Notre Dame offensive line has been quite uncertain and has now been thrown even more into question. The Irish open their season at Texas A&M on August 31.

Meanwhile, a Notre Dame football star is to receive a huge honor in the form of one of the most prestigious awards in college football. Riley Leonard has been selected to the preseason 88th Maxwell Award Watch List.
