South Bend high school football Week 1 scoreboard: Recapping Friday night scores and updates

SOUTH BEND — The 15-week odyssey to crowning Indiana high school football state champions begins tonight as the regular season kicks off across the state.

In the South Bend area, several marquee games are on tap. Mishawaka Marian hosts city rival Mishawaka, Penn welcomes in traditional week one foe Valparaiso, and Division-I talent litters the field with Elkhart visiting Concord in a huge Elkhart County battle.

The South Bend school games are Adams traveling to Culver Academy, Riley hosting Hammond Noll, Washington welcoming Hammond Central and Saint Joseph visiting Lakeland. Other area rivalry games include NorthWood at Jimtown and New Prairie hosting LaPorte.
