South Charleston Starbucks opening on Friday

SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday for the second official tenant in the Park Place Shopping Center, and coffee lovers couldn’t be happier.

A ribbon cutting for the area’s newest Starbucks was at 4 p.m. on Thursday. People looking to get their favorite caffeinated concoction from the coffee chain will be able to on Friday.

The first tenant in the shopping center was Chick-fil-A, which opened in March 2023. A Kroger Marketplace will break ground on April 1, 2025 , according to South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens, while a Menards home improvement store will break ground on or before that date.

The shopping center is the former location of a fly ash pond, and site preparation has taken several years to accomplish.
