Local couple witnessed shooting at Trump rally, vow to continue support
Tom and Sherry Smith of Cambria County said they were both enjoying the Trump rally in Butler on Saturday. However, they said everything changed in just a few short minutes. “Trump started speaking, about 15 minutes into that I heard ‘pop pop pop.’ To the left of us was a wooded area, and my immediate reaction to that was, ‘Somebody’s playing a prank, there’s fireworks.’ But then my husband said, ‘That’s gunshots, get down.’ And then immediately everyone around us dropped to the ground,” Sherry said.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced significant developments in a chilling case involving multiple serious charges and gruesome discoveries. On July 13, Elizabeth Mascarelli, 29, of Seaside Heights, was arrested on numerous charges including Hindering Apprehension, Desecration of Human Remains, and various weapons offenses. These charges relate to incidents occurring around July 3 in Toms River and Jackson Township.
MOTIONS HEARING SET FOR SUSPECT IN GAREFFA KILLING
A motions hearing is set for today for one of the people accused in the death of Hayden Gareffa. Court Documents show that the hearing for 20-year-old Summer Settlemeyer will be held today in front of Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco. The hearing is dealing with motions concerning Settlemeyer’s mental health. She was one of seven adults and one juvenile that were charged with coercing Gareffa to leave his grandmother’s home and stabbed him multiple times before leaving him for dead in a field of tall grass off Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township in 2022. Settlemeyer is charged with criminal homicide, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, kidnapping to inflict injury or terror, aggravated assault, conspiracy to those four charges along with statutory sexual assault.
