PennDOT, Jeannette first responders host license plate replacement, Yellow Dot enrollment events
JEANNETTE, Pa. (KDKA) -- On Monday, a steady stream of people drove up and stopped by the Jeannette City Hall to replace their damaged or peeling Pennsylvania license plates.This free plate replacement event was being spearheaded by PennDOT's Highway Safety Network, with local help from both the Jeannette Police and Fire Departments."It is against the law to have an illegible license plate in Pennsylvania," said Jaci Brice, the District 12 Coordinator for the Highway Safety Network. Buffalo Bills heading to PA for joint practice with Pittsburgh Steelers

Pennsylvania Turnpike officials warn about text message scam targeting financial information
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Pennsylvania Turnpike officials are warning about a "smishing scam" that is attempting to get people's personal financial information. Scam text messages that say they're from the "Pennsylvania Turnpike Toll Services" are being sent to random individuals, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. The messages contain urgent requests and say the account will incur additional charges if overdue payments are not made right away, the commission said. People who receive an unexpected text like this should not click the link.Earlier this year, a similar phishing scam targeted EZ-Pass users in Pennsylvania and other states. The Philadelphia Parking Authority recently warned residents about a similar "smishing scam" – a scam using SMS or text message.For E-ZPass customers, there are multiple approved safe methods to check your account — the official PA Turnpike E-ZPass website or the PA Toll Pay app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store.Customers who get a fraudulent message can report it to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.
Communities in Schools of PA receiving $191,000 in Scaling for Success grant

Road Work Set For Jackson and Concord Townships
Several local roads will be shut down later this week in Jackson and Concord Townships. In Jackson Township, Pattison Street Extension will be closed for three to four weeks beginning Wednesday. The closure will run from Autumn Wood Drive to Gate Dancer/Old Ehrman Road in Cranberry Township. Access from Hartzell Road to Pattison will also be closed.
Five Pa. girls wrestlers garner gold medals at USA Junior Nationals
Five Pennsylvania girls wrestlers took home gold medals Sunday night at the USA Wrestling Junior Nationals in Fargo. N.D. Haylie Jaffe, a Kennett High School graduate and McKendree University commit, outscored her opponents 62-0 en route to the top prize at 140 pounds in the Junior Women’s freestyle bracket. Jaffe was the lone Pennsylvania gold medalist in the Junior Women’s Bracket after defeating Aleksandra Bastaic of Indiana by a 100 count.
