N.J. mayor who made racist remarks caught using a slur, again
Clark Mayor Sal Bonaccorso is not apologizing for calling a political rival a slur for people with intellectual disabilities during last month’s council meeting. Bonaccorso made the derogatory remark during the township’s June 20 meeting after a Democratic candidate for council addressed the all-Republican board during its public comment portion, according to a recording on Clark’s YouTube channel.
July 4th Fireworks Will Move Back to the Hudson River This Year
After 10 years on the East River, New York City’s July 4th fireworks show is coming back to the Hudson River. Macy’s, who sponsors the show, said that “many factors” affected the decision to move the location. The 48th Annual Macy’s Fireworks Show will have over 60,000 pyrotechnics for viewers’ enjoyment.

Former Columbia High School coach Leonard Klepack was found guilty of sexually abusing a 17-year-old student athlete in the 1980s after admitting to having a relationship with them. Klepack coached track and field for 30 years at the school, which faces a lawsuit alongside former athletic director Robert Curcio for negligence in supervising Klepack. New Jersey survivors of childhood sexual abuse can report their experiences to law enforcement until the age of 55 or seven years after they make the discovery of the injury tied to abuse.

An ultramarathoner is on the brink of an epic running feat in Essex County. Chris Jaworski of Bloomfield said he has run every street in all but one of Essex County’s 22 municipalities and is currently making his way through Irvington, where he grew up and attended high school.
