Massachusetts minimum wage for tipped workers initiative qualifies for the ballot for a total of five initiatives this Nov.—most for the last seven election cycles
A signature challenge to the minimum wage for tipped workers initiative filed by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association was withdrawn on July 17. The challenge delayed the initiative’s certification, but upon its withdrawal, the secretary of state certified the measure. The initiative would gradually increase the minimum wage for tipped employees according to the following schedule:

Loyola’s Roman Qualifies For U.S. Amateur
CONCORD, Mass. – Loyola rising senior Jackson Roman qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship on Monday, tying for first in a final qualifier at Concord Country Club. Roman shot a bogey-free 5-under 65 on Monday on the 6,703-yard, par-70 course to tie Bryson Richards and James Imai for medalist honors at the qualifier. He will play in his first U.S. Amateur at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, starting on August 12. Roman will join his future teammate, Eli Spaulding, at the tournament. NorthBridge Secures $28M to Acquire Boston-Area Industrial Portfolio
JLL Capital Markets recently secured $27.8 million in financing for a four-building industrial portfolio totaling more than 300,000 square feet across the Greater Boston MSA. A team led by managing director Andrew Gray and director Ryan Parker represented NorthBridge Partners and arranged non-recourse acquisition financing through Bristol County Savings Bank.
Milford Offers Free Disposal of Old Trash Containers at Transfer Station
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – So now that Milford has moved to a new trash and recycling system, what are you supposed to do with the old containers? The Town says residents who are on the new trash and recycling program can now bring the old barrels to the Transfer Station to dispose of at no charge. They can only be brought to the Transfer Station during normal working hours but there is no charge and you don’t need a sticker. The Transfer Station is open Thursday and Sunday 10am-4pm and Friday and Saturday 8am-4pm.
Hopkinton Promotes Age and Dementia Friendly Community Initiative
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Hopkinton’s town manager says the town continues its active involvement with the Age and Dementia Friendly Community initiative. Elaine Lazarus says it’s part of an overall goal to make Hopkinton a safe, nurturing and inviting place to live and work for seniors, people living with dementia, their loved ones, and caregivers. She says there are periodic Dementia Friends Information sessions that help you learn some of the things you can do to make a difference. The next one in Hopkinton is in October.
