Southern California Weather Force has issued a Special Weather Statement for the inland zones of Southern California effective the weekend of July 15th, 2023.

A ridge of high pressure will near Southern California, which is nominal for this time of year.  This monsoon induced ridge will be strong enough for temperatures to reach near 120F for Bakersfield and Imperial Valley.  Areas inland like Santa Clarita and the Inland Empire will be 105F.

While not unusual for this time of year, it will mark the start of the Southwestern United States Monsoon.  Over time, this ridge will pump in moisture out of the south and east and we will start seeing monsoon effects, even into the metros this season.  I’m still pressing for an average to above normal monsoon season for Arizona, and the same will be for Southern California.
