An inside slider is scheduled to move through Southern California this weekend, weekend of September 30th. This system will be the first system of the season to bring fall like temperatures and some rainfall, with areas of thunderstorm chances as well.

A deep trough will be placed over California this weekend. The west to east flow around it will bring gusty wind conditions for the mountain and desert regions, starting Friday, with up to 50 mph wind gusts.

A weak front will sweep the area on Saturday, starting through San Luis Obispo, Vandenberg, and sweeping across Kern, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange County, The Inland Empire, San Diego, and the High Desert zones. This front will continue to be monitored as instability parameters are high enough to warrant a chance of thunderstorms, mainly Los Angeles north and westward, including the Barstow and Kern forecast zones.

Thunderstorm risks will be assessed further on Saturday morning with the next update.

Long Range suggests we will be seeing a couple systems in October, and October will be colder than normal as we move through El Nino (Reference A Below)

NOTE: Alerts are posted on here, be it a tornado watch, etc, and these alerts are issued from this office and nowhere else. At times, which is often, you will see an alert forecast posted on here that you do not see elsewhere.
