Forecast: A storm system moving through the area will bring in cold air aloft as we move through the afternoon and especially evening hours across the Kern Valley areas, including Bakersfield.

The daytime heating due to the breaks in the clouds will bring stronger instability as well. This, combined with the upper divergence (lift) of the northwest quadrant of the storm will bring the risk of thunderstorms containing funnel clouds/isolated tornado, hail, wind, and heavy rain.\

Storms will clear after about the 9-10pm hour, if not sooner.

LONG RANGE: Indictions of a returning storm pattern for the first week of February. Will update accordingly.
