WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - One family is without their home after an early morning fire Saturday in Wilmington. Wilmington Fire Department says the fire started around 4:30 a.m.. All of the family members and their pets were able to get out of the home safely. Investigators believe the fire was caused by electrical issues.

Wilmington police: Traffic lights down at busy intersection
Traffic lights at a Wilmington intersection are currently out of service. The lights at Eastwood Road and Wrightsville Avenue are currently down as a result of a vehicle collision, according to a Facebook post from the Wilmington Police Department on Saturday. The lights will remain out of service until further repair on Monday.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — WWAY is learning new details about an alleged hit and run in that we reported on Friday. Police say on June 25 at the 800 block of S 5th Ave., a woman who we now know as 68-year-old Bridget Penny was hit while walking in a crosswalk while she had the right of way. The driver then turned down Dawson St. in the wrong direction.
