The Quietside will be anything but, as the Southwest Harbor and Tremont Chamber of Commerce shoot off fireworks at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th. Fireworks will be shot off the Clark Point Road. The Rain Date is July 6th, but it certainly doesn't seem that the rain date will be necessary as the forecast for the day on July 4th and nighttime for the fireworks seems to be ideal!

The Town of Bar Harbor will not be enforcing paid parking at the meters or kiosks on July 4th! However, any illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed. Be mindful of yellow painted zones, hydrants, and not blocking driveways.
Versant rates to change starting July 1
MOUNT DESERT ISLAND — Versant customers will see rate changes starting July 1, a company press release announced. Based on calculations from recently approved rates, residential customers in the Bangor Hydro District, which includes Mount Desert Island, should expect to see a slight decrease to their total bill, while customers in the Maine Public District will see an increase.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — March with Southwest Harbor Public Library fans in the Flamingo Festival Parade on Saturday, July 13. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Seal Cove Shoppes on Seal Cove Road. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m., following Main Street into downtown Southwest Harbor, with the finale at the intersection of Main Street and Clark Point Road. This year’s Flamingo Festival Theme is a nod to the Olympics, “Summer Games in Southwest Harbor.” Dress up for the games and sporting your favorite pink.

Hancock July 4th Hot Dog Cookout and Concert
Here's what's happening in Hancock on Thursday, July 4th. The Hancock Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual July 4th Hot Dog Cookout Fundraiser from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Hancock Point. Grilled hot dogs, chips, and sodas will be available by donation at the Hancock Point Boathouse on the corner of Wharf Road and Bay Avenue. The fundraiser supports the Fire and Emergency Medical Services provided by the Department to Hancock and surrounding communities. A Hancock Point Community 4th of July Parade will precede the fundraiser.
