Suspect dead after shootout with Deputies in the Upstate

The second of two deputy involved shootings over the weekend in the upstate occurred, Sunday evening. Spartanburg County deputies were called regarding a fight in the Pacolet area around 7:45PM.

Dispatchers were told the fight involved intoxicated people at a pool and shots had been fired. When deputies arrived they observed shots fired from a home, took cover and called for backup.

After two hours of negotiations, the suspect fired on deputies and ran to the roadway. Deputies returned fire killing the suspect. No deputies were injured. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office identified the suspect as 43-year-old Jason Chad Prosser. SLED is investigating the shooting which is standard procedure.
