Suspect arrested for failing to register as a sex offender

A convicted sex offender has been arrested in the Upstate after failing to register for the last 8 years. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says 54 year old, Rudolph Wiley Lindsey was arrested early this morning on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

Lindsey was convicted of a child sex crime in Charleston back in 2007. Lt. Kevin Bobo says Lindsey's last registration was in Union County in 2016. Lindsey reportedly told Union County authorities he was moving to North Carolina, but never registered there.

Spartanburg County investigators were tipped off that Lindsey was working at a business in Duncan. The Sheriff's Office then confirmed that information and obtained a warrant for Lindsey's arrest.
