SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – An Upstate husband rescued a $200,000 lottery ticket from the trash.

According to the South Carolina Education Lottery, a couple bought a $5 lottery ticket at the Circle K on East Main Street in Spartanburg and thought it was a loser, so the wife threw the ticket away.

Her husband spotted the ticket in the trash, took it out, and realized the mistake.

“You have a 12 on it,” he yelled to his wife. She scratched the card some more and uncovered the $200,000 win.

The couple told lottery officials they are happy and plan to buy their dream house.
