Oklahoma Heat Wave Persists: Dangerous Heat Continue Across the State
Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma continues to battle extreme heat, with dangerous conditions persisting throughout much of the state. The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued an excessive heat warning for parts of northeast Oklahoma, including Tulsa, Bartlesville, and Miami, effective from noon to 9 p.m. today. During this period, heat index values are expected to soar above 110 degrees, with some areas potentially reaching as high as 112 degrees.
OCCC ranks among top 30 Best Film Schools
According to Hollywood-based film publication, MovieMaker Magazine, Oklahoma City Community College ranks among the top 30 Best Film Schools in the U.S. and Canada in 2024. Founded in 2000 by the late Oscar-winning producer and Oklahoma native Gray Frederickson, who was best known for working with famous director Francis Ford Coppola on the “Godfather” movies, the program offers two-year degrees. An Edmond man was pronounced deceased on Sunday afternoon after jumping off a bluff at the Burnt Cabin cliffs on Tenkiller Lake. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Stanley Roedenbeck #842 of Troop W reported that Donald B. Holloway, 41, of Edmond, drown after resurfacing briefly. Roedenbeck was assisted by Troopers Cody Cross and Joseph Couch, and by members of the Cherokee Nation Marshall Service and Cookson Fire Department.
